Pinata!

When I was about 4 or 5 years old we got a book at the library at Christmas time about a little Mexican boy and the way his family in Mexico celebrated Christmas. Because of that book we decided to have our own Mexican celebration. We had Mexican food, lit luminarias, and best of all we enjoyed a pinata! This tradition stuck and we still do it now - years later.

Since it was only going to be Mom, Dad and Julia for Christmas they decided to have a pinata while we were all there for Thanksgiving. It was lots of fun!

Seeing these pics reminded me of a Mexican themed party we had at the ward here in Homer and they had a pinata, but the person who made it had probably never seen one broken open before, so to save money and provide bulk inside, she filled half of the pinata with Twinkies.

The person breaking it was not the sharpest knife in the drawer and kept hitting it, even when there was Twinkie cream flying all over the church gym. It was a genuine mess!!! I'm glad to see no Twinkies in your goodie bowl - I sincerely don't recommend them as pinata filling.
Love, Charlotte
